healing happens in waves
when we come together
we become the tide

the puka project

Born in 2017 from the heart of our founder, Perri, the Puka Project is a tradition rooted in aloha, connection, and care. What began as her vision of coming together as an ʻohana to support those navigating life’s deepest waters has grown into a collective breath of healing — touched by time and shaped by the stories it carries.

Peace. Love. Pukas.

The project gathers our island community to collect puka shells from the shores of Maui and hand-string them into Puka Leis — meaningful necklaces created to honor women who have walked through life’s storms.

Each Puka holds more than beauty; it carries an echo of love, a prayer for healing, a thread of strength. Broken, tumbled, and shaped by the sea, these shells remind us that transformation is born from resilience.

This year, we were honored to create Puka Leis for three extraordinary women — Amanda, Maia, and Olivia — cancer survivors, Maui residents, and ocean-hearted souls. Like the Puka, they’ve been shaped by the waves of life, and every tide they’ve weathered has only deepened their shine.

I believe we can heal our 'holes' [pukas] and turn them whole through compassionate thought, speech, and action — first for ourselves, then for others and for the planet.
