FAQ

What is a Puka Shell and where do they come from?

Puka means hole in hawaiian. Puka Shells start as a cone shell and over time as the shell crashes through waves and onto shores, the top part is left. The last step in the puka making process is when the hole is formed in the top of the pukas. Pukas can be collected while walking along the beach or in the water in certain areas where shells and rocks collect. They move with the tides and the swells.

What size should I choose for my necklace?

Each necklace has a length chart in the photos of the product, so this is a good place to start! To find out the exact length right for you,  I recommend taking a string and measuring around your neck to the point you want your necklace to hit and then measure it. Also take into consideration what types of jewelry you may want to layer your piece with or what necklines you will wear it with.

How can I get involved with the Puka Project?

You can donate a puka at one of our Pass a Puka On Drop Locations - Listed here.

Does the jewelry come with any packaging explaining the story behind it?

Yes! Each piece comes with a handcrafted card with a message about the purpose of the pukas.

When can I expect my order?

Each piece is handcrafted on Maui Hawaii custom for you. Please allow two weeks for your piece to be shipped. If you need your piece earlier, please email us to discuss a rush order.

How can I track my order?

You will receive a shipment notification with your tracking code via email when your item ships.

Do you ship outside the United States?

We do! We have two tiers for shipping internationally - First Class (no-rush) and Priority (6-10 day). Please note that international shipments may be subject to import taxes, customs duties, and fees. These additional charges must be paid once the package has arrived in your country, but before it is delivered. Unfortunately, this may cause delays beyond our original delivery estimates. Please contact your local customs office for more information.

What is your return policy?

Since each piece is handmade custom for you,  we cannot accept returns. Please contact us if you have need to discuss something about your purchase.
